Support the James River Park with a new license plate Print E-mail

James River Park License PlateNow you can show your love of the James River Park System and be among the first in Richmond to own a James River Park System license plate! These unique plates are available for pre-orders NOW and, pending the 2011 General Assembly approval, should be delivered to you by June 2011. In order to pass the first hurdle in the process, the Friends of James River Park (FOJRP ) must collect 350 applications with payments before the General Assembly begins its 2011 session. Click here for more information.

The purpose of the specialty plate is two-fold: for citizens to proudly display their love of the park and to generate significant revenue to support park projects. Here are a couple things to keep in mind: Specialty license plates are not expensive: Only $10 more than the fees that you currently pay to DMV annually. Once we sell 1,000 license plates, FOJRP will receive $15 for each plate sold or renewed.

The application is not complicated: It takes less than 5 minutes to copy the information directly from your registration card. It is estimated that 500,000 people visit the park annually. We only need 2 percent of them to generate income to keep our park preserved and unreserved. So, NOW is the time to complete a specialty plate application. We need you! To apply for a license plate, go to the James River Park website: or contact Molly Dellinger-Wray at 804-358-8703.
